Strength, Storytelling, and the Power of Women in Agriculture
When women in agriculture come together, the impact goes far beyond networking — it builds confidence, community, and a shared vision for the future.
That was evident throughout the 2026 Mississippi Women for Ag Conference, an event First South Farm Credit was proud to support as this year’s presenting sponsor. From powerful speaker sessions to meaningful conversations among peers, the conference highlighted the pivotal role women play in shaping agriculture today.
For Julie White, former president of Mississippi Women for Ag, the value of the conference lies in connection and empowerment.
“The networking is incredibly impactful,” White said. “Every session focused on telling your story, being an advocate, and staying involved in agriculture.”
Over the years, she has seen more women recognize their influence and step into leadership roles within their family farms, businesses, and communities.
“This conference empowers women to step up and step out,” White added. “It shows them they’re not alone and that their voices matter — in their operations and in agriculture as a whole.”
That message resonated strongly with attendees and sponsors alike. Haley Walley, a loan officer with First South Farm Credit in Laurel, Mississippi, described the conference as both motivating and affirming.
“The Women for Ag Conference was a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience and leadership women bring to agriculture every day,” Walley said. “I’ve always been very proud to be a woman in agriculture, and getting to be around others that share the same passion was truly impactful.”
For newly elected Mississippi Women for Ag President Tannah Christensen, the people are what truly set the conference apart.
“Bringing together women from all areas of agriculture and all walks of life creates connections that last far beyond a two-day conference,” Christensen said.
As presenting sponsor, First South Farm Credit helped elevate that experience.
“The investment from First South truly elevated every aspect of this conference,” Christensen explained. “It allowed us to offer an experience that felt intentional and meaningful — not just another event. Their support sends a clear message that women in agriculture are worth investing in.”
Sessions throughout the conference focused on confidence, purpose, and storytelling — reminding attendees that every role matters and every story contributes to agriculture’s future.
As Mississippi Women for Ag looks ahead to future conferences, including expanded hands-on opportunities and additional educational resources, First South Farm Credit remains proud to stand alongside an organization committed to growing stronger leaders.
Because when women in agriculture are supported, the future of agriculture grows stronger right along with them.
